Do I have a problem?

There are many things that people get addicted to. Two of the worst are alcohol and drugs. These problems can eat into your life and totally destroy you. It is very important for your health, and those close to you, to understand that you have a problem.

How to tell if I have a problem with addiction:

  1. You are unable to stop using the substance despite the fact you know it is harmful for you and may even be life threatening. When you realize that despite the fact that the substance is undermining your health you just cannot quit. Once you understand this you need to seek help fast.
  2. You are not aware of your surroundings and responsibilities: Your family and friends no longer have any significance. You just do not seem to care about life and your responsibilities. In fact there are times when you just seem “out of it” and are not even aware of where you are and what you are doing. If you find yourself in this position you have a serious problem, as this means that your mind is deteriorating due to your addiction.
  3. Your whole life seems to revolve around your next fix or drink: This is when your addiction becomes really bad. When you become completely dependent on the substance you are taking and you are really living for your next drink or fix you are in a bad state. When life ceases to have any meaning and you are living solely for your addiction, this means that your addiction has really taken over your life and you need help.
